Sharing the Life of Jesus
For Sunday, July 18: Then God remembered...
Worship @ 9:15 & 11:00

"How long, O Lord," is the great cry of the psalmist and a cry familiar to all the faithful.

Our text for Sunday will include Genesis 30:22-24: Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and opened her womb.  She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, "God has taken away my disgrace."  She named him Joseph, and said, "May the LORD add to me another son."

We pray for justice and relief from pain, for healing and freedom from oppression, and rightly do we want it now.  Yet God seems to have forgotten or is, at best, busy with some other thing while we wait. But waiting is given that we might use it for prayer...

Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art smiling,
Do not pass me by.

Let me at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief,
Kneeling there in deep contrition;
Help my unbelief.

Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
