Child Protection Clearances and Resources

kids.playing.outsideThe State of Pennsylvania has instituted new regulations for those who work and volunteer with children and youth. The heart of the new regulations is a requirement that volunteers and professionals obtain state criminal and child abuse background checks and, in some cases, an FBI background check.

The regulations go into effect on July 1, 2015. LPC will comply. All those who have “direct and routine contact with responsibility for the care, supervision, guidance, or control of children” are covered by the new regulations

With an abundance of caution, LPC will require that all volunteer workers whose participation in our program is subject to Session approval obtain the necessary clearances as a condition of their continue work in our programs.

After initial clearances, all required clearances must be renewed every three years.

LPC workers will be required to complete our Kids Safe training every three years, as well.
