Mission Opportunities

Below you can read about opportunities to be directly involved in mission and service. We invite you to explore and participate in one or several of these programs. If you would like more information about any of these opportunities please contact the individual listed or the church office.


The Promised Land Ministries” Spring of Hope Mission in Guatemala operates a school sponsorship program, called Plan Padrino, to enable local children in the villages surrounding Lake Atitlan to attend school and receive an academic education that would otherwise not be available to them. The cost to sponsor a child for the academic year (January – October) is $150 for children in kindergarten through 6th grade and $300 for children in grade 7 and higher in public schools and $300 per year for all students enrolled at Spring of Hope mission school.  This provides school supplies, backpack, shoes, gym uniform, school tuition and registration fees. For many of the children in this area of Guatemala, this is the only way that they could receive an education. LPC’s 2018 mission trip to Guatemala will be held February 3 – 10, 2018.   We will be working with our partners, Promised Land Ministries, in serving the people of the Lake Atitlan region of the country. The main focus of this trip will be improving the living conditions of some of the families living around the lake. Read more about this project here. There is also an opportunity to be involved in a children”s VBS type ministry and assisting in the medical clinics conducted in the villages around the lake. The need is great, and it feels great to be able to help fill the need of those of God”s children who have so little in the way of material possessions or financial means. LPC will send a team of our members to Brazil this summer for a time of alongside mission work and relational encouragement with our sister congregation in Belo Horizonte.

Dates: July 17 – 26

Where: Belo Horizonte, a city of 3.5 million in the highlands of temperate Brazil.

What: Work alongside our sister church members in their Vacation Bible School ministry to the children of the nearby favela ( slum). Live, learn and share with members of the Brazilian church.

Hunting Park Christian Academy collects used inkjet cartridges for recycle and credit for school supplies. In addition, HPCA”s “Wish List” includes: School Supplies: pens, pencils, calculators, chart paper; Art Supplies: construction paper, glue, washable tempera paint, watercolors, oil pastels; Office Supplies:clear tape,HPCA First day of school staples, paper clips, White-Out,dry erase markers, post-its; Modern Computer Equipment:laptops, Windows XP; School Furniture: tables,chairs, bookshelves, student and teacher desks; Gift Cards: Our teachers could always use gift cards to Staples, Office Max, and Wal-Mart: You may place your used inkjet cartridges, or other items you wish to donate, in the marked box in the LPC Heritage Hallway. Both church and community members rely on LPC’s food pantry to help feed their families. Please help out by bringing non-perishable items such as: Creamy peanut butter, jelly, 100% fruit juices, canned meats (particularly chicken and ham),  canned meals (spaghetti, ravioli and stew), boxed cereals, chicken and tuna helpers, rice and potatoes, applesauce (small jars – not individual), powdered milk and instant coffee. Donations can be put in the Food Cupboard box under the coat rack in Heritage Hall or dropped off at the church office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.


The LPC “Ground Transportation Department”  is looking for individuals to drive the LPC bus to Cairn University on Sundays. No special license needed. Needed are also a few drivers who could help pick up men and women from Twining and  Attleboro or points in between. If you are available to cover one Sunday a month (or more)  please contact Marcos Ortega at the church office, 215 752-3200.


Got leftovers? Why not turn your leftovers into meals for our Aid For Friends ministry? You can find foil meal trays or soup containers in the LPC Narthex and in the Chapel. Please feel free to take as many as you can fill with a balanced meal or a hearty soup, freeze and return to LPC. Meals are collected the second Sunday of each month, but they can be dropped off any Sunday morning when the kitchen is open or during church office hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information on how you can help, contact Deacon Tom Brown at 215 750-9265.


The LPC Board of Deacons works with the Bucks County Housing Group (BCHG) to maintain an apartment for families attempting to obtain permanent housing and become self sufficient. Kitchen utensils, pans, pots, and baking pans as well as general cleaning products and laundry detergent are needed. Non-perishable food items are also needed for the Food Pantry. If you can donate any of these items they can be placed in the blue plastic container in the Heritage Hallway. For information on how you can help contact the church office.  LPC volunteers help in the BCHG food pantry on the third Thursday of every month. If you would like to volunteer to work at the BCHG Food Pantry please call Alex Jacoski at 215-750-1196


LPC hosts regularly scheduled American Red Cross blood drives.  . Donors are always urgently needed. If you are a frequent donor, or have never been a blood donor, please consider this opportunity to give the gift of life. The next blood drive is Friday January 6  from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. in Fellowship Hall. GAiN provides many ways to become involved through their Mount Joy, PA distribution center as well as numerous other mission opportunities. Do you need more room in your closet? The Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission can help. This mission provides meals and overnight shelter, helps women with transitional housing, and has a men”s recovery program. This is also an LPC youth ministry site. The mission now has a thrift shop in Penndel at 71 Bellevue Ave.  The thrift store accepts laundered clothing in good condition, furniture, household goods, laundered bedding and linens, books and small kitchen appliances in working condition Monday-Friday, 10am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm.
