Kay Brown Announces Her Retirement
On September 23, the elders meeting as the Session received Kay Brown's announcement of her retirement from full-time ministry at the end of October. In a letter to the elders Kay said in part,
Dear Pastor Bill and Elders on Session,
After many months of prayer and talking this through, Tom and I have decided it is time for me to retire from full time ministry work. This was a very hard decision.
… It is very important to me that you know that I absolutely love the work I do. I have been so blessed to do this job for 18 years.
…Working with Pastor Bill the past 11 years or so has been a gift. I have learned so very much from him. He helped me anytime I had questions, and I truly believe that I learned more from him, regarding my job specifically, in Christian Education, than any college classes could have taught me.
…Thank you for trusting me with many different areas in ministry. Particularly Children’s Ministry. I am so thankful that God allowed me to work at LPC and use the gifts he has given me. Thank you, and everyone serving on Session prior to now, for allowing me this amazing opportunity for 18 years.
…It is going to be a hard adjustment, but “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
Kay hopes to move to a part-time position in the Neshaminy Schools soon. And while we will miss Kay in her familiar staff role, Tom and Kay will remain the beloved members of LPC they have been for so long. You may not see Kay around quite as often, and all of us will need to allow Kay to be “just a member.”
Save the date! A reception in Kay's honor, Sunday, October 27, following 10:00 a.m. worship!
